The 4WD light in my truck will come on sometimes, could be going 25 or 75, and sometimes it stays on or just flickers for a while, I'm guessing that it's not actually going into 4WD? How can I fix this, it is pretty annoying. Thanks to all who respond, Alex

My 95' ctd has been doing that since last summer when I had the front end all redone. The shop that did the work must have damaged the switch on the front end. They offered to fix it but I did not get around to getting it back. They were sure it was the problem.

So I would have to take it to a shop to get this fixed? Is whatevers wrong with it going to be detrimental to my truck? Thanks, Alex

I've never looked for the switch, but I'm about 99. 99999999% sure it's on the t-case. Our trucks have different front end set-ups than the 2nd gen trucks. You'll have to verify the switch and wiring are good.

I don't think it is a big deal . I just have not taken it back in. I can always tell when mine is in 4 wheel drive. The first corner i take it will jump and lurch. . Unless I am on snow or ice.

Man, i wish i could get mine to come on  No that stupid little ground wire on mine kept commin off, and i just got tired of puttin it back on.

Ya the switch is on the side of the t-case,

Both of mine have been off since the day I bought them, that is just a decorative panel on the dash, right??? :-laf Glen

92% sure it's the switch on the side of the transfer case. Price it, pull it and replace it yourself. In case you're wondering, yea mines broke too, just too lazy to take my own advice ;)
