2007 5.9 what is the normal amount of blow by at 2800 rpm?

Is there any way to put a switch in the cab that will allow me to put my truck in 4WD low without it going into 4WD? I want to have the low low for backing my trailer on the blacktop without the binding of 4WD. On my '07.

yeah, that's the sort of thing I'm looking for, not free spin hubs. Not sure if it will work for my truck, I don't think I have a vacuum hook up.

I called BD and they don't make one for the '07s. It seems that before that they were vacuum activated and after that, they are electrically activated. So, does that mean that the '07s are mechanically activated? Anyone know the answer to that?

I don't know, but there most likely is a Forum Member who does. Maybe start a new post for how to get 2WD Low on your 4x4 07? or something like that....Just a suggestion. And good luck with your project.

If the disconnect is vacuum actuated like my 2nd gen was all you need is a normally open solenoid valve, a 12 volt source and a toggle switch and a little bit of extra vacuum line to tie the valve in. Flip the switch to block the vacuum to the disconnect and put the transfer case in 4 low for an actual 2 low. I ran this set up for many years on my 2nd gen. Might actually have the parts still laying around.

There is no disconnect on the axle on a third gen. Axle shafts and front differental are turning whenever truck is moving. Like cerb said the only way is to get free spin hubs.

Yup. Not only that, the last builds of the 2nd generation 2002 model, have no axle disconnect, either. I have an '02 with a build date in 2001 and I have an axle disconnect. My brother-in-law has as '02 with a build date in the spring of 2002 and he has a solid axle. We were going to fix his up like mine (2WD Low), but that ain't happenin'! He's bummed.

There used to be a way on the old Willys Jeep 2 lever transfer cases to put it in low range without 4 wheel drive. I've heard of hacks to do this with other transfer cases as well. If you have lockout hubs you could do it, but not without them as the axles on our trucks have no disconnect.

Find out what actuates the front axle to lock and then disable it. If its electric put in a switch, vacuum a valve. Your not in a locked 4x4 all the time
I interrupted the vacuum on mine (turn it off), so to speak. It has the cade system.

This a 3rd gen truck the OP is talking about, it has either an NP271 or NP273 transfers case. Not a Jeep transmission and no CAD, there is no way other than free spin hubs to do a 2WD low.

Aw,now, Cerb! Don't be a killjoy! There just HAS to be a way! (Yuk,Yuk!)

On my "early" '04, when it was due for ball joints, I elected to replace the hubs at the same time with DynaTrac free-spin units. I have never regretted that decision. Having 2WD Low when backing a heavy trailer is really great.

Admittedly, I don't know much about the 3rd gens and how they're setup. But when I did this on my 2nd gen, I decided to do it a little different than I seen before. I modified the t-case internals to allow for another position, that 5th one being 2wd-low. Like say, I don't know how the 07's are setup, but maybe that's an option.
