Came back from a sledding trip to Eureka AK, 4. 5 feet of snow, incredible day but I was dead tired. When I got back in town the weather had turned very warm (43 degrees) and turned my drive way to ice. I had been pretty satisfied with the traction from my 03 on slick surfaces but had never had the opportunity to go into 4wd low. I pulled up to the drive with trailer and two sleds in tow. Things looked bad with a 13 percent grade up the drive. Just figured it was time to break out the chains when a little voice said put her in low. Ive gotten in trouble listening to the voice before but what the heck you never know until you try! At a dead stop at the bottom of the drive I let her idle up staying off the pedal. Truck took trailer and all and never broke stride. I parked her and patted the dash saying "God I Love this truck". Stepped outside and fell on my keister.

Just thought Id share my moment of glory.

Sorry but I am laughing at / with you, this is exactly what would happen to me, after something remarkable I get knocked back down to reality.

4WLow is awesome. I was pulling a light trailer (car trailer w/70 Chrysler) up a 45% slope. Started to lose a bit of traction in the slippery mud, and went off the side into some wet pine needles. (Redwood forest) Popped it into 4 low and just idled up the hill. Pretty awesome.

Did need the Hi-Lift jack to get the trailer unstuck, though. Gotta work on my backing skills. Then again I hope I won't be backing over a curved semi-cliff in total darkness in the rain with a trailer again...

ZOOOOOOM! Up the hill I went... :D :D :D

We were pulling the jon boat out of a pond where the access cut was overgrown big time. I started spinning the tires on the wet brush, so I popped into 4LO from 2WD (first time ever in 4LO). Let go of the brake and we moved, so I stomped on it. Awesome, simply awesome... :D

Checking for truck pulls, third gear low range go pedal to the floor equals 35 mph. I got my brothers truck stuck in a river bank back in high school it was a chevy short box with a 4 inch lift and BFG MT 35's and a 400 small block that was originally built for a street rod. I put it in 4 low and nailed it, I went straight up in the air and out of my prediciment, went home and washed the truck before he got home from work. Funny thing he noticed the mud caked in the frame rails and I was caught. Haven't used 4 lo for anything in my Dodge except for a pull.

I got mine stuck in some deep wet snow yesterday. Not quite high centered but quickly packed some nice divets around the wheels. I had no winch or cumalong and was a 15 minute hike from traffic. I tried rocking it gently for awhile, getting nowhere. I put it in 4 low and got out to see all 4 tires spinning slowly unmanned (apparently the LSD was fully engaged). As a last ditch effort before hiking I started racing it (still in 4L) back and forth between R and D while turning the steering wheel back and forth. Finally started making progress and escaped. I really didn't expect that to work but was pleased that it did. I was very impressed by (I'm sure this sounds horrible) how fast I was able to switch from forward to reverse and back at pretty high RPMS without sounding like I was abusing the transmission. Sure wish I had a gauge to watch, but they just arrived today.

Boy do stock tires suck!

Any thoughts on how hard that might be on the underprivelidged 48RE?

I cant believe how well this truck does in 4 low, really out performs other trucks Ive owned. For those concerned I picked up a set of foot chains for future trips from truck to the house.
