2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 4wd problems

I have 4 hi, but not 4 low!!! with all 4 tires jacked up, only the rear driveline is turning in 4 low. I hope this isn't major!! I don't hear anything unusual in low or hi. any thoughts??

If your front Dshaft is not turning, I'd check the transfer case linkage for proper operation. If that's ok, then it might be shift forks inside the trans case.



If your front Dshaft is turning, then it's probably the CAD, a fairly common prob. I don't know how 4hi and 4low would affect the CAD, but maybe there's a switch for it that is only getting activated in 4hi?

the CAD is all screwed up. I temporarly "fixed" it so that the axel is locked all the time just to check things out. How do you check linkage adjustment??

you might check the vacuum lines, at all the connections, all the way from the fire wall connection. on my sons, we found at the frame to the axle joint it had come apart.
