While on our trip out west towing the RV, we pulled into the KOA at Fountain, Colorado. They took us to our assigned site which looked fine, but when we pulled into it, the site turned out to be a mudpit.

I engaged 4WD high to pull the 5th wheel out of the bog. Initially, the dash light showed 4WD LOCK, but after a few seconds, the indication changed to 4WD SERV. So, no 4WD, but I managed to extract the 5th wheel anyway. I called the nearest Ram dealer, Colorado Springs Dodge, and they have me scheduled in for Tuesday morning after Memorial Day to see what's going on.

Ah, the joys of RVing.

Try washing out any mud in the wheel u-joint area.
When my '95 was new, I got it stuck in the mud up to the axles and after getting it towed I got a brake warning light. Pressured washed about 100 pounds of mud from the bottom of the truck and all was good. I know the 95 is really different than your 2016, but it may be worth a try.

It's a highway queen. There's no mud under there. I suspect it's a relay or actuator since the switch is sending the signal to shift the transfer case as evidenced by the EVIC display change to 4WD LOCK when I first turned the selector dial.

It was a defective front axle disconnect actuator. Colorado Springs Dodge diagnosed it and changed it out this morning. All's good and the trip resumes.

Glad it worked out for you! We went camping over the holiday weekend and got a muddy site too. It rained all weekend, especially hard Sunday night and Monday morning. Very thankful for 4WD, or I would still be there!!! On second thought...

Drivers side view the spot looked good and the kid kept saying come on back. I had to stop n place in 4 low. Once back in site got out and this is why I needed 4low! They did give me 1/2 my money back. Last space available, they no doubt had a leak and just covered the mess with gravel.

That's what they did to me. They brought in 4 front loader buckets of gravel, spread it around and said, "That'll be fine." Nope, I want another site.
