Cargo light 3rd brake light leak

Who would do such a thing?

I am in 2WD and get this message popping up randomly. It goes away awhile if I actually cycle it through 4X4 and back to 2WD. I have the manual 4X4 floor shifter. Bumping the lever in 2WD appears to bring the message up without shifting to 4X4.

comrade - my 18 went through a period of time where it displayed the 4wd in progress all the time - blinking etc. this spring, i used 4low first time ever since new - backing up a man lift down a driveway from hell. the shift in progress has not come back yet.

also, ran across this when i was just about to fix it - cheers!

This was useful to assist the dealer covering the switch under the extended warranty. Likely cheaper to have just bought the part than the $100 deductible, but it was in for other work as well.

Ok, what parts am I missing? Went to shift into 4X4, funny bang, and 4X4 shifter now loose... Well hard stop into crossmember. No longer connected!

What retains the rod into the shift selector on the transfer case?

o_O Must be for assembly line speed as the bushing is the only thing holding the rod in place. I read where the entire shift rod will fall off the truck! Some aftermarket have a E Clip with the kit. I got a replacement bushing from the dealer and changed it out.

Just pop it back in hard and try to pull it out after.
If you can pull it you need a new bushing.
Probably wasn't fully seated from the factory as these hold on like crazy.

my truck used to have an intermittent problem with that 4wd shift in progress alert..
it wasn't the rubber bushing in shift mechanism
it seemed the factory never plugged the electrical connector completely into the 4wd sensor on the top of the T case
dampness really got to it.. if it had been raining alot....
I sorta kind of figured out what was going on when
I was laying under the truck with key on, eng off and I heard the actuator on the diff cycling..
kept fiddling around under the truck wiggling stuff and there it was..
connection on top of transfer case was not reall good.
