I adjusted the steering stops in, and my turning radius is improved. It now turns as sharp as possible without the brake calipers striking the axle housing.

Some previous posts gave the impression that corss over steering would improve the turning radius. That may make the steering quicker, but I am now at the minimum turning radius. I don't see how a conversion would improve that.

Cool that you got it to turn sharper. Crossover can't turn the wheels farther it just has better feel and less slop in it. I am planning this in the future, have to pitch the front swaybar, and then I'll add one to the back for the heavy loads. :D

Don't forget to check the U-Joint operation at tight turning angles. Basically jack up each side and at full lock make sure the U-joint turns freely with no bind. The easiest way to destroy a U-joint is to turn tight in 4wheel drive and apply power (then you have a mess $$$). They really don't like much torque applied, especially at the more severe angles. :{

I haven't played with my D60, but I would guess your past the happy operating limits of the U-joints if your turning the tires that far.

I double checked and the U-joints are not binding.

I do beleive the cross-over steering geometry is better. I might be interested in that in the future. My '84 W350 doesn't have a sway bar, so I won't be loosing anything there.
