My dad who is also a TDR member has a 2009 6. 7 Cummins with the 6 speed transmission the other day he put it into 4 lo to go down into a gulley not that he really needed to but he did it. Now he can't get it to disengage and return to 2 Hi. He has tried going forward and reverse letting up on the throttle and has driven it about a mile down the road trying to get it to release. He has also tried getting it rolling and shifting to neutral then selecting 2 hi with no success. This truck only has 16k on it and has had an easy life.

Any ideas are welcome as the warranty ran out last month. Thank You in advance.

Sorry, no ideas except R&R of the actuator thingy.

But this is the stuff that absolutely drives me crazy. Cannot get a Dodge with a manual transfer case unless you get the base model. Absolute garbage. Same thing with Chevy/GMC.

However, the last time I checked, Ford offered manual shift in all trim levels. Really makes me love my SLT all the more.

The truck needs to be in neutral and rolling 2-3 mph to engage and disengage 4 wheel low. You can shift 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel high back to 2 wheel drive on the fly at any speed. But 4 low has to be in neutral and at a very slow crawl with out a load on the drive shafts.
