2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 4x4 coil springs in 2wd truck?

I have searched old posts and found conflicting information regarding installing 4x4 front coil springs in a 2wd 2500 to achieve a 2" lift. A couple of people have said they have done it while others say they have tried and it won't work. I currently have my front end apart at a shop and asked them to try the swap. They got some Moog cargo coil spring and they obviously won't work. They are too large in diameter. I don't want to have them chasing around other coil springs only to find out that there is no way to make this happen. If you have done this swap, please help me by providing specifics. I feel bad at this point because I told the shop that I read that this swap will and has worked based on information I read here. I would like to save others the trouble of attempting this swap if it really won't work.

You might try contacting one of the 2 wheel lift kit manufacturers and get their input. When I get home I'm measure my stock springs and post the dimensions.
