I have a 89 ctd 2wd and i found a 1988 dodge 100 4wd but the engine is bad and the truck is good and i didnt no if i could put my ctd in that truck or put the 4wd on my 89 or if i should just not worry about it

The 3/4 gasser will be a light drive train also. But it will have a thicker frame than a 1/2 will.

You would not be able to use any of a 1/2 or 3/4 drive train behind a Cummins. The Dana 60 used in the rears might hold for a little while if you have a auto.

Nothing personal but it is simply a bad idea and any advice to try it is not doing you any favors. The frame is too light and the front and rear axles will not hold up, not to mention your 2wd transmission will not bolt up to the transfer case and that transfer case is not going to hold up either. I personally would find a different truck if you want a 4wd.

The Cummins trucks had Dana 60's in the front and Dana 70's in the rear and the frame was heavier, as was the transfer case, heavy duty drivetrain required for the power/torque involved.

All good advice, but what we don't know is what do you want to use it for once you are done. If it's just to get around the fields in a 4x4 (that you don't have now) to haul hay in the bed it would probably work just fine. My old F-250 (85) had a 6. 9L IH engine in it and the front axle (Dana 44) made it up to and past 340K miles (it's still going just not under me). It's not as good of an axle as the 60 but it is sufficient if used within its operating range.

I'd probably sell the 2 trucks that you have (maybe swapping a good motor for the bad one) and then find a W-250 in the price range I could afford.

You could run a divorced 205 case behind your getrag. I still don't think I'd set a cummins over a 44. I know a kid that removed a 60 and put a 44 under the front of his 91. 5. Now he can't figure out why it keep breaking front diff parts.

I wasn't planning on it. He borrowed (without my permission) a set of taillights from the srw bed that came off my truck for his truck. A year ago. I've asked several times for him to return them and some other stuff of mine, and I'm still waiting.

One thing you might think of. That W100 would make a good transplant for a 4 BT.

It most likely has a set of high gears in it.
