here's the deal I'm out plowin now

when I shift it into 4hi ( didn't try 4 low yet )

I hear a banging noise kinda like a u-jint going

but it's not constant , maybe 1 klunk every

5-10 seconds

anybody have a clue ???

here's my cell 203-521-4942

today really sucks

thanks guys/gals any help is greatly appreciated

sounds like a u-joint to me... maybe a carrier bearing on the two piece drive shaft...

does it do it in 2X4 mode or just 4x4... if just 4x4 check front shaft , but look at all of them

also there have been issues with the snap ring at the back of the tail shaft out of the xfer case... look there also

FYI... . fill in your info on your truck in the sig line or post it when you ask for help. .

I would check the CV joint in the front drive shaft. It could have excessive wear, causing the clunk. It could also be a front U-Joint, but it would do this in both 2wd and 4wd. Is the clunk comming from when you turn the wheel? It could be a ball joint going bad.
