I have the electronic shift. When I shift into 4wd, hi or lo, the 4x4 light on the instrument cluster flashes. 4wd is engaged at this point. It also disengages with no problems. It doesn't seem to flash as much or as fast at slower speeds.

I've searched the forum and the service manual and can't find out what this means or how to fix it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the input. It definitely shifts, so I guess there must be a fault somewhere in the system. I wonder where?!?

I think the system monitors speed and will only shift into 4wheel drive when at a certain speed - or perhaps its monitoring acceleration - and it doesn't want you pressing the accelerator pedal when it is trying to engage. Try coasting and see if that reduces the amount of flashing time (speed being equal).

I know I need to essentially come to a stop for the LO to engage... and the light flashes until it is actually engaged.
