Hi all,

I have the POSI Lock cable actuator for my 4x4. I didn't install it, it was on the truck when I bought it. I am wondering if anyone else who has one has had issues with the 4x4 indicator light coming on when its not engaged? When I bought the truck the light didn't work. I soon figured out that it just wasn't connected and fixed it. After that the light would sometimes flicker while driving, but I could usually fix it by twisting the cable until it was snug. Today the light was on but very faintly and I couldn't get it to go off. If I pulled the cable it would come on all the way, but when I pushed it in it would stay on very faintly. Later in the day I had the batteries unplugged for a good while as I installed my new Mopar1973man High Idle Switch. After reconnecting the batts the light is off and no more issue. I am concerned that the collar could be partly engaging and that it will be damaged from driving with it partially engaged. Has anyone else dealt with this? Can I just open up the CAD and fix it somehow so its not so sensitive?

Thanks in advance!

I am familiar with the posi lock system but my 99 I just put back together with the stock replacement vac motor and the problem I was having is that the intermediate axle was worn out and the area that sliding collar goes back and forth pushed by the fork was worn along with the fork and this was causing the sliding collar to not slide to complete mesh, therefore the collar was not quite engaged all the time under load even though the the light is always on. This took some time to troubleshoot but after replacing all these parts fork, sliding collar and intermediate axle and all bushings and new seals -- like new now! Got all the parts from Quad 4X4 in Montana. and their color print out of procedures (Invaluable!!)

I had a posilock on my old gas dodge and it worked great. I had a vacuum issue so it wouldn't engage.
I think I had the same problem as twitch so I put the posilock in and I guess being a cable, I was able to overcome the burrs and engage.
It would always stay locked in and my light always worked when I moved shifter to 4H or 4L operation. Never had an issue with the light.
I would think you could just pull the box off the axle and check wiring. Might be short somewhere. You might even engage it and have someone watch dash light as you are fiddling with the wire a bit. On my 02 cummins (without a posilock) my 4x4 light flickered one day and went out cold. Never has come back on but my 4WD works fine even under load so....Don't know if that was much help but my experiences...
