Took it in to the dealer for a wheel alignment and it still pulls to the right.

The dealer said they all do it some and the only way to fix it, is with an off camber ball joint, that I would have to pay for.

Does this sound correct?

Anybody elses do this?

Thanks.

off camber ball joint is the only way to fix camber

i need one in my 01 but it does not pull

toe will cause a pull

did they do a 4 wheel alignment?

According to the sheet, they did. Also it shows everything to be in spec.

It pulled right before the alignment.

The only thing they changed was the toe (according to the sheet)

I just went through this same thing. Dealer aligned to within specs (it was very very close to begin with), and the truck still pulled. I took it to an independent shop, and they got it a bit better but it still pulls right. Independent shop suggested the adj. balljoints when the stockers wear out.

Does the pull to the right hurt anything? The shop that did my alignment said "no". They straightened out the toe and that seems to have fixed the tire chop.

Also, my rear axle is bent slightly forward on the right side. How'd I do that? Or was that factory? It's just out of spec. Kinda hard to adjust that one though.

Lots of POSTS on several sites since 03 about pulls right. Some dealers did use the previous year models adjustable ball joint(old TSB) with a slight modification that their D. C. rep signed off on UNDER the 3/36 warranty. But only SOME. Would have thought by now a TSB would have been issued. Oh well.

I tried doing a search for the old TSB and couldn't find it. Anybody know a link or have a copy of it?

Funny the dealer suggested the adjustable ball joint, but said it was not covered under warranty. Still waiting on him to get back with me on a price.

Looking at my alignment sheet from the dealer.

Camber 0. 0 - 0. 0

Caster 5. 0 - 5. 0

Toe . 06 - . 09

So camber is not adjustable at all?

Would Caster adjustment do anything?

Thanks

ECappelman;

Just a suggestion, have you tried changing the front tires left to right and right to left? If the alignment specs are correct, this might change the pulling aspect. The tire stores do it all the time. I have done mine on occasion when I have had this happen to me and it has worked.

Marv.

No I haven't tried it, but have lot about that.

Except... ... .

I had it aligned because I just put a set of new BFGs on. It was doing the same thing with the stock 265. Thought I just needed alignment. Hmmmmmm

I never noticed a pull until I put the Rickson's on. Thought maybe I had one funny one. Did the front switch-a-roo and didn't help. Since then all 6 have been rotated twice and everything's the same. I guess I'll just wait for the ball joints to go out and then replace with the off camber ones. I know very little about steering/suspension stuff so please bear with a stupid question. Do both ball joints need to be off camber or just one?

Ok, the dealer just called me. The adjustable ball joints aren't available yet. He heard about them from a tech that just came back from training.

They could not even find a part # for them. But when they called (Dodge?), they were told they would be out in a few months.

Maybe they will be better built?

So..... He said I could bring it back for toe adjustment, but it might screw up my tires.

I talked to another dealer near me and they say they can fix it. I may try them before I give up and wait for the new joints to appear.

There for 01 or 02s. There is a TSB but not on 3rd generation. Some dealers have used the OLD TSB ball joint on the 3rd generations with a minor mod(something to do with the grease cup) and their REP approved it. In fact the POSTS were on this forum a year ago or more. Someone look at TSB's for older models(2000 and up I think) They had a pull right problem also!
