5.7 hemi cam bearings

I put a 5. 7 hemi crate motor in a 71 satalite for a customer at work ,it ran for about 5 min. then died . number 4 cam bearing was indexed wrong and was not oiling the journal and locked the cam down shearing the dowel on the front of the cam. The only thing that got damaged was the cam and cam bearings dodge will sell me a cam but not bearings they say there not serviceable. I never heard of such a thing they press in the block so how can they not be serviceable. dc warrarted the motor but i bought the bad motor from the customer so does anybody know where to buy cambearings?

My local auto parts guy said stnd. bearings are available:

Clevite #sh1112-s

Michigan #1484m

I would check with your local engine rebuilders, they will probably install the new bearingw for less than what a tool will cost. Here are some suppliers though. bg Cam Bearing Installation Tool - Dogpile Web Search
