Bosch IP, WHERE TO GET and HOWTO REMOVE???

The Conversion Begins!

I am kicking around doing the same setup but I am going to build my own stuff and use a allison instead of ford stuff

Cool, I would love to see more info on how you got the Allison to work? How does it adapt on either end? PM me if you want.

I recently got my crate engine on a cart so I can roll in around in the garage. I started removing parts to be replaced with better ones :) I plan to have it running on the stand to verify everything functions as planned, and allow me to retorque the head studs after a few warm ups. I'll have to post a few pics as I go...

I was just talking to Scott tonight about the Allison kits he is selling. He said most of the guys are putting them in their Dodge trucks. Call Brian Thompson about his BTS 4R100 transmission.

I would still recommend his BTS over any built Allison 1000. A Gear Vendor's Overdrive could get you the extra gears if that's what you're after. Talk to the experts, the guys who build and compete with these transmissions.

Got Torque, i will get in touch with you soon.

I wouldn't go with anything but an allison. By the time you buy a BTS transmission and a overdrive unit, you will be well past the money of a built allison that is stronger, IMO, than any transmission out there. I also compete with my transmission, nothing broke yet!!

I'm already decided on using my 48RE in the excursion, I have all of the parts except a billet flexplate. I'm more interested in the allison for my 2001 truck. I look forward to hearing from you.

Since PCS still hasn't released their kit for the Allison, Scott said most folks are tuning with EFI Live. Parts are definitely bigger in the Allison, though it has more parts and it is a very complex unit, especially electronically.

So far, most folks are unable to use 6 forward speeds in high power conversions. The rumor is that the Allisons don't hold up, only safe with 5 speeds. Would be nice to have the 2 reverse gears. Its mainly about matching up clutches.

Anyway, a 4R100 won't require the expense of a transmission controller in our Fords. Instead of an overdrive unit, i just went to taller tires. I'd love to be informed of a test between the best built 4R100 and the best built Allison 1000. Some hard facts on paper and results from tests in trucks would convince me. Almost every transmission guy i've talked to believes the 4R100 is the strongest light duty truck option.
