No kidding I was just over at Timberline Dodge in Portland and they have an 03, BASE model truck SINGLR WHEEL 3500) - rubber mats. roll up windows etc, Vin # 3D7-LU38CO3G-724441 - Base Price $33830 BUT on the sticker the Cummins Diesel is ONLY $600. 00 NOT Thousand but HUNDRED!!!!! When you add up the options, it comes to $36,525 - But only $600 of that is shown as being the Diesel cost !!!!

Oh you may be right ------

That may explain the cost difference - WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS - They don't do this in any other Model Do They?????

Nope, it's unique to the 3500 short box SRW quad. That truck comes standard with the normal output Cummins, has the optional HO, and that's it. No hemi or V-10 option. I don't know why they did it, but I'm certainly not complaining. :D

It's what I have on order. .

Applies to the 3500 QC SRW long box too. Dodge is marketing the 3500 QC SRW as a heavy duty tow vehicle, thus its MUCH higher tow rating over the 2500 and diesel-only powertrain. The difference in payload over a comparable 2500 is only about 750 pounds, but the trailer weight rating grows by nearly 3000 pounds.

Some of you guys are a marketers dream!

Base Engine, all levels, when offered, is the 5. 7L

Add $600 and you get the V10

Add $4025 and you get the 5. 9 CTD Std

Add $600 More and you get the 5. 9 CTD HO

The 3500 SRW SB/QC does not come with 5. 7L or the V10, so the base engine is the 5. 9 CTD Std, add $600 for the HO, its the same in all classes, 2500 and 3500.

DIESELMAN

I had to look through a tinted window, so it was hard - but there wasn't any adding for the 5. 9, what I mean, there wasn't an option on the list of $4025 that showed up, it was included apparently in the std equipment for the base price. I'll take another peak and see what the wording is... BUT it is interesting that this model ONLY has the Diesel. I'll bet if we look careful, you're going to see that DC is marketing these for the foreign export market, Governmental use or for contractors.....

Again, look at the base MSRP, the 3500 QC/SB/SRW is higher than the LB because the Diesel is the base engine, the difference, depending on model ST/SLT is the difference between a 5. 7 and a 5. 9 CTD std that is available in the LB. The LB is not cheaper, you just have to add the Diesel as an option. Its not an option on the 3500 QC/SB/SRW, its standard, base price.

And worth every penney and then some!
