I got the 2007 Trailer life towing guide and it has tow capacity listing for both the 5. 9 and 6. 7 litre engines. In all cases the 5. 9 is either equal to the 6. 7 or in some cases, it's rated @ 100 lbs more. These listing cover all models of 2500 and 3500 series trucks. No mention of the mysterious cab-chassis or 4500 series.

You have to remember that the biggest reason for this engine change was not to give it more HP or towing ability but to meet those 07 Emission standards... . something that all engine builders had to do to stay in business... ... CAT has paid millions because its last engine chance did not meet standards and for each engine produced they paid a penalty. . As Cummins starts to build this engine... . I'm guessing they are going to need to see 500,000 or so we will see additional HP, Torque... ... but it just needs to be one step at a time.....

The engine is a little larger, probably weighs a little more so that is subtracted from the GCVW rating. bg
