Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) #5 block?

just wondering if anyone heard of this



I am doing business with a very honest guy and i asked him about the block # on the side of his block (in fear it might have had a 53)



however he told me it only has a big 5 on both sides of the block, any one have any idea what this is??

I dont think he would of rubbed it off as he is the original owner and the truck is a 1998, I posted its information back in another thread

I have the same # on my block. Where the 53 should be there is only a 5. I am also interested in any info available for this block.

hey I just wanted to let you know, the other owner called cummins and they said there isnt any problem with this kind of block, however I am going to call on my own to confirm this, I dont think the previous owner is lying, but he might be just to make a deal, but I doubt it. .

Come on guys the 53 is just a number I have 182,000 on my truck and it is in good shape. I have been running 384hp/844tq cents the truck was new. Oo. I change oil every 5000 and change anti freeze every spring. I looking at 400,000 easy.
