Couldn't find my heater plug tonight... haven't had to plug in almost a year, now I can't find the plug. :{ Looked around inside the engine compartment and nothing. I see a silver 2 prong outlet in the side of the block (passanger side) I assume that's where it plugs in... not sure if someone ripped it off, or it got taken out for some reason last time I had it serviced or if it came lose and got pulled out in one of the woods I've been cutting in... anyway, where is the best (cheapest) place for me to pick one up... unless anyone has one sitting on their shop bench they would like send my way for the cost of shipping? It's Christmas time you know! :) Take care all... Jeff in cold Ohio.

Funny you would bring it up! I was just out to the garage, my unheated one and mines missing on my 04'... . hmmmm, still one on the 05' but I keep it in the heated garage, maybe I'll be canibalizing one tonite, wish I could help you out!

Should be able to get one at any decent parts store or truck parts place, just a standard Philips Block heater plug, picked one up at a Freightliner dealer for my buddies dually (5' long) for $12

I have read on this site that either in '03 or '04 that the block heater was installed from the factory, but the cord is an option..... or you just flat out have to order it through the dealer.

Buddy of mine with a 04. 5 3500 DRW just had to order one from out local dealer for his truck. Poor guy went from a Dakota to a CTD and the CTD took a while to warm up in the cold TN mornings according to him. :-laf

Although it is 13* outside right now! :--)

..... mines been plugged in since I seen 20* on the temp. gauge earlier this afternoon. :-laf

Hunter is definitely a big name in trucks in PA... I can think of three hunter pete dealers right off the top of my head in PA. I smell monopoly! I can see it now, an anti-trust lawsuit against a truck dealer, lol.

it was 6 degrees here in jersey this morning and my 96 started just fine. i cycled it twice before cranking and no problems at all. last winter i had a powerchoke and i could forget about it starting with it being this cold out. the plug on my 96 is still in the factory wrapper and its never been plugged in. the owner before me had it in alaska and never plugged it in there either with no problems starting .

I know they did not supply one in 04' the dealer put one on before I picked up the truck, I used it last winter, we got a cord thief out there!

My truck has always started just fine. Below zero is no problem, but

it just sounds so much nicer when the rods don't sound like they are

coming up thru the hood. Got a new cord today

at the local Cummins dealer... $11. 47 (that included tax)

My old one must have got pulled out or got under the wheel somehow.

It was yanked out, metal hold-on nut still on there. Just took that old

nut off, rubbed some petroleum jelly on the new plug... reinstalled it. Works fine! Thanks for the info guys. Have a great night.

New Batterys In CT

went out to my truck on my lunch break late yesterday evening and started the truck and warmed it up to operating temp where it would be easier on it to start after I got off @ 10PM
