5" EXHAUST,can anybody...

Im running 5" bullydog w/bd high flow muffler(no cat)i like the free flow sound&feel,but was wondering if we could quiet it down a little ,if possible?w/o of course putting back on the cat. Its real loud outside the truck(i live in &around boston. . Its REAL LOUD in the city)i've heard of a resenator but dont know what it really doesMy truck has 18000 mi(est. )and i got 21mpg on highway on short trip(40 mi @65mph, up from 16. 5mpg w/cat)again is there any thing we can do? thank all for time&response---LA

I don't think a cat would cost ya 4. 5MPG!!! If I were you I'd find a free flowing resonator (straight through) and drop it it. I have a verry small straight through resonator on my 4" system and it is barely louder than stock inside but outside is another story!

How loud is it in the truck?

I put a resonator on my 5" set up, and it is quiet in the cab. It is still loud outside though.

JONNCAMERON-it's only 3. 5mpg and yes there IS diference w/o cat. but the small noise problem is outside the cab.
BIG P-no drone at all in the cab(quad)i have had the truck up to 100mph for a mile or so and there was no drone. with the windows down its different ,then its real loud,ecspecially when next to buidings,fences,and other cars.
JWILLIEAMS-thanks for the link! im just looking to take a little sharpness out of it . what kind is yours(resenator)?AND HOW MUCH $?
AGGIELR-what kind is your resenator &how much?when you say "quite a bit" what are you meaning?(stock=1/-,-w/o resenator=10)also does it still feel "free-flowing"?

It is only loud in the cab when I am on it hard rollin through the gears. It is very quiet when cruising. I don't think it changed the flow at all. My EGT's are definatly down.

Dont know who made it, but I bought it from rip for 50 bucks and it works great.

It is a flow through type that is used on big rig trucks.

If you have the room, add a second muffler. Done that before and it works.
