I have the opportunity to upgrade my 4" exhaust. My fathers truck is in need of an exhaust so I thought it was a good time for me to try something different :)

I am contemplating going with a 5" system with the thoughts of someday I may end up with a set of twins on the truck. I am concerned though because it may be a while before I have a pair of chargers and I have read a few times that the 5" may hurt performance on lower HP trucks. Supposedly the turbo will spool slower with the 5". Is this accurate? I would still be running a 4" downpipe on an HX40 so I don't see how spoolup would be effected by the 5" pipe down the line.

I have also read a few times that a 5" system is louder than a 4" but I think this may not be entirely accurate assuming both systems have mufflers.

What do you think?

Thanks for the input.

Can't comment on the noise between the 4 and 5". The resonator I have makes it sound GREAT. With my truck being stock at the time I put my 5" on the truck, I never noticed a loss of power. It improved the spool up quite a bit. Between the exhaust and the BHAF, I could barely make my truck smoke, even with a trailer. With the way I have the AFC adjusted w/the #10 in, it still doesn't.

I have big exhaust 5" kit and love it. I did not get the muffler so mine is a little loud at some points but you get used to it. The muffler would take the drone out. It fit perfectly and was really reasonable price. Take a look at it.

I have a PDR40 and straight 5" exhaust from Rip Rook. Sounded really good with not much drone when I had the PDR35 but with the bigger exhaust housing on the 40 it drones pretty bad, but I'm young enough it doesnt bother me. It doesnt seem any slower spooling to me compared other 40 equipped trucks I've driven. If I did loose any low end its not enough to make me want to go back to 4", it just sounds too good IMO.

Free Earplugs

Hey Ryan, just give it a try, bring it over and we'll install the system in less than an hour.

If you don't like the sound, I get foam earplugs from work for free, I'll bring home a handfull for you! LOL
