i would like to hear something here also. what kind of benefit is this over a stock 4". If it is beneficial I will consider getting one as well.

Actually from what I've read unless pushing 500 plus H. P. its a loss of power. Dyno proves it. Over 500 h. p. its a benifit. Sometimes there is TOO much.

If we were Talking GM/FORD 5" is a Problem, It causes senors To misread , Some Have remove their 5" and went with 4" . I agree With DP, 500 plus would be a good Mod. If you install 5"on any less than 500 hp You Might drop EGT 30* to 60* WOT ,Otherwise other than looks it not worth it.

This was discussed a lot on TDR many moons ago and on the dyno a 5 inch on basicly stock trucks hurt h. p. etc. The four was perfect. The 5 inch worked good on over 500 h. p. Heck the 05s have a 4 inch, just do a muffler swap! On my 03 I have a true 4 inch from turbo back and If I had already had a 4 it would have saved me a few hundred bucks! Now if your REALLY going to run twins and all the other stuff use a 5.

My plan is a set of 50HP injectors and the Edge Juice/Attitude and a trans upgrade. I am looking for an exhaust system that has a deep throaty sound. Most of my driving is on the highway and right around 2K rpm. Any additional input on a exhaust system would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

Onesloryd - Im running a 5" exhaust system, there is definanatly no loss in power, helped egts over the 4" system I used to have. After I installed the super b turbo, I got a very annoying drone with the 4" , Installed the 5" less drone for sure. But after 2200 rpm I start getting a drone - not nearly as bad as the 4" system. Sounds way better also - IMO.

I got mine on Ebay, and it has the deep tone, but it has another weird sound too. It's kind of like wind blowing(that' the only way I know how to describe it). Other than that, my turbo spools up right away and you can hear the turbo much better than the factory exhaust. As far as power, I put it on before the injectors, and bottom end seemed to be stronger. After I put the injectors in, it ran like a scalded ape. :--) I really like it. I think I paid like $435. 00 w/shipping and everything. It took me about 4 hrs. to install myself because, the old exhaust wanted to give me a hard time about coming off. I think it really got used to being there. :-laf

Have you priced injectors. Real exspencive for 50horses. Lots of options on mufflers if you already have a 4 inch system. Thats were the DRONE is not in the size of the pipe. Banks has a muffler that supposly eleminates drone to a certain amount. 2000 rpm is where most cruise with 3. 73 gears and its were the drone starts. The AEROTURBINE muffler is suppose to help with drone also. Some like a DONALDSON muffler that can be gotton in differant lenghts from a BIG RIG parts supplier. I think I'd change muffler to a Donaldson and add a fueling box. If still want injectors later no problem and a 5 inch exhaust no problem. But the dyno showed time after time 5 was too much unless over 500 horses. Do some search's on 5 inch exhaust. Also on the Donaldson muffler. Its in the archives. GAUGES FIRST!
