5 inch exhaust

Where can I fin a 5 inch exhaust system? Is it really worth it or should I just stick with 4?

From Diesel Pro

Went from stock to stock pipe with no resonator no muffler to 5".



So I couldn't tell you if the 5 was any better than the 4.

The guys gave you good ideas on where to get a 5" system. The other part of your question"Is it really worth it or should I just stick with 4?", well that's up to you. The only performance enhancement value gained from a 5" over a 4" would be different (deeper?) sound and the visual "Oh My Gosh" factor. I didn't notice a lot of bombing on your truck, so there may not even be any "performance" advantages to a 4" over stock except for the above mentioned audio/visual. Just my $. 02.

That's what I did on my 2wd, fit just fine with room to easily clear my 265/75/16 spare. Put in a 5" straight through muffler, it's louder than 3" straightpipe around town but quieter on the freeway. Nice deep sound. Cost a little over $300.

THanks to all who posted I am in dilema about whether to go to the 5 inch or 4 I want it to stay as loud as possible. I love sound the more the merrier. I was wondering if the 5 is a whole lot quieter? I am planning on an EZ ASAP and I am still deciding on whether to go with the Autometer Cobalt or the DiPricol White face guages.

I have a five inch from Dieselpro and love it. The only problem is that I hit an ice chest on the freeway and broke a hanger off and now they are all breaking loose at about one a month. Make sure you weld hanger on everywhere that'll fit one. That exhaust is pretty heavy. BTW, I found out that the exhaust cools fast enough that you can use nylon straps to hold it up too.

What size downpipe are you using? It is pretty tight to fit a 5" downpipe, while a 4" fits easily.

I used a 4" downpipe then fit a 4-5" reducer onto the end of it to go to the sewer system.



We installed my system at the NW BOMBer gathering in Pendleton March 9th. John, Rip Rook and Desert Ram suggested I install a grate over the tailpipe to keep the rodents out
