5 inch Exhaust

I bought a 5" exhaust system including muffler for my 2003 3500, ho and they told me it had a straight through muffler, but when I looked at it, it has a baffle in the middle of the muffler closing the entire opening halfway through the muffler. I called the people I bought it from and they told me it has to have the baffle for the 2003 for the turbo to spool properly. I thought the whole purpose of a 5" exhaust was to open up the turbo. He said it would have a turbo lag without the baffle. Your comments and help would be appreciated.

He is feeding you a line of poo about the turbo spooling. I have a straight through muff on my truck and if anything it help the turbo spool. I personally think 5 in exhaust is overkill considering how small and restrictive the factory turbo is. Just my 2 cents.

Depends on the design of the muffler. The ones we use also have a divider in them... helps to keep the drone away. Removing it (which we tried) makes drone noticeable.

I am running a Donaldson 5" flow through muffler and resonator. The muffler is 44"long and 9" in diameter. No Baffle. Call Fred Swanson www.desertdieselparts.com for the parts list. The muffler and resonator fit well together and I have no drone at all. Inside of the truck it still sounds almost stock. Almost. :D Outside it sounds like a Semi... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
