Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 5 second delay

thanks for the comeback Tom , sorry for the lack of info . It's an auto , and at first I thought it was taking of in overdrive . I shifted it manually into 1st and there was no difference . It takes of from a dead stop after you floor it to about 1500 rpms . Then after about 4 or 5 seconds it comes on normally . Could it be a wastegate problem ? Does the wastegate operate from vacuum supplied from the turbo ? Thanks in advance for any help .
