Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 5 spd. question?

Is it possible to upgrade the top of the transmission on my 94 5spd. to the 98 and up 5spd. trans. top?

I've got a 98 and up top on my 97 and I like it very much. Much shorter shift throws. You will need the top, shifter handle, and shifter base. The only thing is that the leather shift boot is too big for the later model stick so you will have to get creative to fill the void between the shifter and the boot.

Where'd you get the parts. the dealer wants about 5 times what it is worth

So it is a unbolt and bolt back in set up? No machine work involved? Guess i can find a wrecked truck or see if blumenthals might have that stuff.

Direct bolt up no machining required.

when you say the top, do you mean the whole top cover of the trans that bolts on? where did you buy your stuff from?

I have been having 5 speed problems (can be viewed in 24 valve engine and transmission forum in recent posts) and just purchased a top cover for my transmission thinking that was my problem but it wasn't. It cost me 350 for the top cover from my dealer thru a reman shop. My dealer number is 800-779-0092... ask for Glenn. Tell him Chris Snyder referred me or if you call this am I can sell you the one I got before I return it... . Chris

You might check 800-std-tran for the shift tower. I filled the gap in the boot with a short piece of pipe insulation form Home Depot that I wrapped with plastic electrical tape.
