5 speed automatic

I was talking with a local contractor a couple of days ago and he just bought a 04 3500/Cummins.

He swears that his truck has a new design 5 speed auto. 'Even says it on the window sticker' he says!!!!

doesn't look like the old trans.



Anyone else have one?

I'm going to go crawl under it next time I get close.

It is a 4 speed. He is delirious.

The 1500 trucks have a 5 speed, the HD trucks have a 4 speed. What he and others think is a 5th gear shift is the torque converter locking up. Ask to see the window sticker, make sure the VINs match up, and then if it does scan it and post it on here.

The only rumor flying around is about a 6 speed benz auto. . I know mercedes makes great transmissions, I cant wait.

I work in the auto trans plant,all rumors about a benz trans,it will be new trans from ground up and built here. the 5 speed auto is in the hemi trucks not the diesels. the 5 speed will also be in the 300c hemi as well as the magnum hemi. I assure you the guys at the tdr will see the new replacement before others,thanks to me. I know they have the new room built for collaboration. its coming just be patient waiting.

Any estimate as to what model year we are talking about for the new trans? Will it be here as soon as 2005 or 2006 MY do you think?
