Cherry Poster so be gentle. Been lurking and finally need to post. This is for a buddy with a 2000 3500 4X4 and 5 speed 90000 + with a chip change upgrade to 350 HP(Unknown type). Having hard shifting on stock transmission and clutch. He pulls a 30' 5th and wants info on changing to a 6 speed. Can it be done? Should it be done? ( I don't know Clem, it just don't seem right. Taint natural I say. ) ;) If it is doable, recommendations on a supplier? He wants to do the clutch at the same time. I 've kinda mentioned a upgrade, I believe TST has a good unit?



Man, enough questions. Sorry bout the long post. Soon as I figure out how, I'll get the following into a sig file. Personal ride is a stock (sigh) 95 reg cab 5 speed. 140,000 miles. Saving up pennies to join the brotherhood of the BOMb'd.

We carry a conversion clutch assy. so you can keep the original flywheel. When going to a 6sp the input shaft goes from 1 1/4" to 1 3/8". This clutch kit is also an upgrade and will hold into the mid 400hp. You can view the clutch on our website at the links of the TDR under clutches.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help, my buddy finally found the site, "What do you mean did I put spaces in the address?" I belive he has started on the slippery road to BOMB heaven. Last time we talked he was mumbling bout takin his machine up to 425 keeping the 5 speed and upgrading the clutch. Gotta luv that high positive cash flow;) . Once again thanks for the help and links. This site rocks... .
 
One little thing that I would like to add.



There is a company called Blumenthals that produce the conversion 6sp transmission. This is a great company and I will get you the phone number and contact name tomarrow so you can buy direct. (cut out the middle man)



Anything to help the fantastic TDR members.



If I am not mistaken, you can buy the complete conversion transmission for around $2,700 new and around $2,400 for rebuilt

Just a thought, I would add a gear vender under /over to the 5 speed. This would let you split 4th and 5 th and give you 5th over. Even with a 6 speed your top gear ratio is the same with your 5 speed they are just spaced differently . Over/ unders bolt onto the transfer case no changeovers. An over/under has a aprox. 21% increase in ratio. 5th over/under is kinda the same as a 7 speed. Just my opinion. Good luck.
