I need advice ... right now I have 500 bucks, what will be the best BOMB? AFE Mega Cannon, 4" exhaust, Scotty 11 air box, air box plus high performance muffler?? I want to get started tomorrow, so HELP!!!! :) by the way thanks for making me wonder exactly how much my warranty really means to me:D

First bomb..

Get an Edge EZ and a pyrometer!!!!

Your gonna need a little more cash, though. I've hear that the stock air box flows pretty well already, so that prolly won't help much. Also, you've already got a high quality 4" exhaust system from the factory. It'll handle all the flow your giving it until you add some more fuel; even more than the Edge will add.

Spend your money where it will do you some good, add fuel. You really need a pryometer too, if your gonna add fuel.

Add fuel.

Add fuel.

Did I say, I think you should add fuel?

My gauges came in today, so I can get a baseline on what's going on before I start playing:D Will probably start off with an airbox and filter, seeing as how the stocker looks pretty crummy in just 11k. Looking real hard at the Edge EZ box also right away!!;) Oo.

Gauges. Not the most satisfying mods but a must if your going to head down the BOMB road. You can get yourself a good set up for that much and probably an air filter too. You WILL need them, I would start there first. Fell free to PM or email me anytime if I can help.

thanks for advice...but...

Thanks for advice... I do know gauges are the top priority, and I'll get them before I went any farther, but I want to take of the air intake and exhaust first, since I know they'll only help egt's, not hurt them, that being said, any info on air boxes,(Scotty II, AFE megacannon, X-intake) and exhaust will help me immensely, as far as exhaust, should I get an entire 4 inch or possibly just the turbo downpipe with a good muffler, and keep it stock from muffler back?? Thanks in advance... I ordered the truck I have solely on everyones advice here at the TDR, I think I lurked for almost 3 years before I took the plunge, and couldn't be happier... again, thanks, Michael

You are right about doing no arm with air mods. just make sure you get the gages before hoppin' the HP:)

Glenn

I started with the EZ but you should follow it with gauges.

I understand that with the EZ alone, you shouldnt have EGT problems.

I'm trippin on what my truck is like now, lots of fun!

Are you guys racing hotrods or driving trucks? I swear, unless you are trying to pull 18k or so or signing up at the drag strip, power in excess of the stock (my stock) HO seems superfluous. Smile please;)

It's just that I spent my younger years tooling on late 60's musclecars and the last one I owned was a 65 Goat with Chevy 383 (350 bored) 4- speed, ladder bars, and 4. 56's... that was almost 20 years ago :( since then, I've developed a love for air-cooled Volkswagens, which are awesome in their simplicity, and can be pretty quick when modified:rolleyes: actually, 150 horses in an 1800 lb bug is pretty crazy... anyway, this truck is like reliving my musclecar days... and I'll be happy with no less than 500 horses and 1000 ft lbs of torqueOo. Oo. with my warranty intact of course:D didn't yenko warranty their Camaros??;)

Mine was a 69 goat, 400, with a hurst transmission, front end off the ground in first. What a babe magnet! God those were the days!!!:D

Not all of us were smart enough to get the HO! I run my EZ on level 3. It gives me enough power without feeling like a race car. I also get the best mileage at that setting.

I only had $500 to spend and got the EZ. I decided to come up with another $220 for the westach combo gauge and single pod a-pillar mount. I have no interest in any more mods as the power I have now is more than enough. I'll look in to the new Edge box when it comes out, though.
