A friend of mine just bought a 92 ctd and about the third time he put it in reverse the rear band anchor broke leaving him stranded. I mentioned the problem to another friend of mine and he said he has seen at least a half dozen of these trannys break the rear band anchors when dropped in reverse. Has anyone else heard of this problem with mopar automatics? Sounds like it must be rather common.

THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM UNTIL THEY WENT WITH PIN IN THE CASE STYLE ANCHOR ON THE 47RH, ESPECIALLY WITH PLOW APPLICATIONS.

THERE IS NOT A STRONGER ANCHOR AVAILABLE, BUT YOU CAN USE A

DIFFERENT STYLE REVERSE SERVO THAT HELPS TREMENDOUSLY WHEN

REVERSE IS USED HARD OR OFTEN.

CALL US WITH ANY OTHER QUESTIONS.

Since i put in a tighter torque converter it really jolts when i drop it in gear. Does a tighter converter put more strain on the reverse band anchor. I have to use reverse every day to back out of garage and i use it alot backing up camper. What can a person do to relieve strain on this anchor?

Since this is a common problem on the 518 transmission im suprised i have never heard it mentioned before on the forums. It must not happen real often.
