I have just purchased my first Dodge Cummins Truck. It is a 1999 24valve 2500 4x4 with 151k miles. I don't see any leaks, steam, or puddles any where near my truck (yet). I would like to know how to positively id a 53 block so if I have one, I can plan a course of action.

just noticed this post so I was wondering what block I have. Don't know if it is good news or bad news but I have a big "53" on the block. What do I need to watch for??

Check out the link I have in my above post, Crack in the block on the Pass. side near the trans cooler, or if a stick, by the #5 cyl. Would leak Antifreeze out of there. #53 is a lesser casting which is more susceptible to the condition.
