Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) "53" H.O. block

Has anyone had a H. O. engine with the 53 crack issue? Thanks

Anything with a 53 cast in the side is prone to cracking.

I don't remember ever hearing of a HO with the 53 block.
My 2001. 5 HO built nov 2000, has a 56 block.

I'll have to check mine over the weekend. Since its a 01. 5 HO and see what the block # is

I have an early 01 with a 53 block, almost 100k, stock, some towing, hasn't cracked yet. I've trained myself not to worry about it.

I have an early 01 HO with 108,000 miles on the 53 block. So far no cracks here.

These answered it. There IS such a thing as a HO engine with the 53 block. The only way to ever know is if you look with your own eyes. thanks guys

Same here. Got over 120k on it now. No problems yet.

I don't have a HO but I do have a 53 block 145000 miles not to many easy ones I expect it to crack some day then I will just replace it ... George

They built it, and it will come. Just give it time. carnival worker has an HO he just replaced his 53 block, 112k miles
