From photos posted on the police department's Facebook page, it appears the driver had built some sort of air braking system, which would have helped with stopping the trailer

I got a kick out of this sentence, apparently C&D does not understand how air brakes function :D

Picture is not clear enough to tell if he simply hooked to red in order to release the maxis.......OR he had caged the maxis and was working the brakes using the blue side...with a finite air supply...neither scenario is good...

A few years ago, a local farmer pulled a 40 ft cotton trailer loaded with about 40 approx 700 lb hay rolls out of the hay field, onto a state highway, up a hill in first gear, down main street through the town of Mullins, SC, to his place with a little 4 cyl 4x4 Toyota. (4 mile trip) If I had done that, they would have put me under the jail and bricked it up

Mark,

These folks don't know Mullins, I'm not claiming to but I've been near it as recently as yesterday. The guys in the barber shop probably said there goes Billy and paid it no mind.

Years ago a couple of local geniuses tried to move a small house thru our little town. they rigged it on some kinda flatbeds and did the giddyup. LEO's or a rig breakdown finished the trip, house rig pulled over on a big shoulder of road.

They weren't allowed to continue, they were made to take it apart and trash it board by board.
