Chevy--wonder if this is my last one

Anybody have ETS heaters?

Hello there, was wondering if anyone has an idea how the 545rfe has been holding up in the 1500 Dodge. The little research I have been able to do shows its OK using stock power and not flogged to death. Seems to have a strange gear set up with a primary and secondary 2nd gear. Seems like a strange way of doing gear ratio's, but hey, it's a Dodge, what else is new. So anyone have anything to add to this?? Also appears to have a very weak rear axle?

thanks Pete

half tons have been using the same rear end since 94, and actually probably earlier than that. Its a Corp-9. 25" Rear. Its actually a pretty stout axle for what they put them under. It is a C-clip axle, but other than that, its a good axle. The limited slip in them does tend to grenade, at least in the 2nd gens if you abused it to much.

As far as the trannies, I heard of some issues in the 03 models, and some 04's, but I havent heard anything about problems since the earlier ones. And, I believe it was something as simple as a software upgrade anyway. To be honest, I have thought about getting a Hemi 2500 3rd gen. The're cheaper, gas is less expensive, and would get about the same mileage I get with my 2nd gen (average around 16 with my powermods. )

Thanks Alpha, kinda what I am leaning towards for a couple of years, realy curious what these 1500 diesels are going to do in 2009 1/2, could be a very nice package,
Thanks Pete
