Hey guys

Found another truck. a 01. 5 2500 4x4 white slt 3. 55 ho 6spd. However, it has a #55 on the passenger side of block... Is that a good block or a bad one? any info will help. Couldnt find much searching thru posts. also, its got a spray in liner, but one nice big dent on the bed side. Its got 62k miles and the dealer wants 19,900 for it with a free 6 month powertrain warrenty, and the price can be worked down to 19,500 i think. .

is that a good deal? also, how can i tell if it has the 241HD transfer case?

Hey called DC to check on prior warrenty work. Truck was sold on 7/7/2001 at mayes county dodge in pryor, Oklahoma. Its only warrenty work was done by the same dealer and they replaced the clutch master cylinder at 32K. The selling dealer is also in the same town as it was taken in as a trade in. what you all think?

Snowplow prep package will mean 241HD, check www.dodgeram.org they may tell you how to identify one. I believe anything but the 53 is a good block somewhere here there is a good explaination of each block number but you'd have to find it, good luck on that. Sounds like a pretty good price. Make sure the pump wire hasn't been tapped and that the 5/100 warranty is still good on the engine.

How can i tell if the pump has been tapped?

any pics will help...

Thanks

Erik

according to the dealer it is stock with only a brake controller so i dont think anyone has added a box

any help would be great thanks

I also found that the truck had the heavy duty option group, is that the same as the snow plow prep ??

Don't quote me but I believe the heavy duty service group is the alternator and such but it's basically a standard component on the Cummins. Maybe someone here will have some pictures of a tapped pump wire but I don't. There are two wires that are on the VP that are partially sheathed in a cloth like case you can push the casing back and feel the wires to see if there is any imperfection in the insulation. It should be the wire closest to the block.

How about the drawings on TSB 14-002-02 from the great Dave Fritz site?

Erik,

I have basically the same truck. . same year, color, model... .

The 55 blocks are fine. I don't know of many of us that have them. I know we are few.

I also ordered the heavy duty t-case but don't have the snow plow prep package. Does anyone know if you can tell what t-case a truck has from the VIN? I believe the 241HD could be ordered separately.

That's an awesome truck (I'm a little biased :D)

Look for this

There is a tin or aluminum round tag with stamped data on it.

It's on the transfer case. Get a wet rag and crawl under the truck and clean it off, and read it. That should tell you everything you need to know.
