I just got a look at the Long Hauler concept truck at Cheyenne Frontier Days. Beautiful truck, but loooong! They did a nice job on the bodywork hiding the tank between the mega-cab and the 8' bed. Hitch camera in the CHMSL is a nice touch. I couldn't detect anything unique about the driver's seat. The "refrigerator" in the rear center console is one of the six-pack size ones like in the original Toyota Van, top-accessed after flipping up the center arm-rest. Loved the Kelderman air-ride system.

I'd strongly consider a 4500/5500 CrewCab Pickup for hauling my slide in camper when/if they become a standard factory offering in the future. Air Ride would be awesome...

A little off-topic...

They are finally smartening up. I don't have great pictures, but the local municipal ambulance's around my area are using a 2011, 4500 CTD as the platform for the new units.

The 4500/5500 makes a great platform for the ambulance posted above and would also make a great truck camper platform with a pickup bed.

Perhaps if enough wanna be owners would write to Ram and ask for it corporate execs would decide to manufacture it.

I'd also be very interested. It would make a great slide-in camper hauler, and with my heavy slide in camper loaded, I would be under the GVWR again. :D I've been interested in a F450 size pickup from Dodge ever since Ford introduced theirs. Unlike Ford, the Ram 4500 would be real, not an over-sized F350.

With a Ram 4500 pickup, I could trade for a heavier slide-in camper... :-laf

Agree! With my Arctic Fox I'm under the wheel/tire and axle ratings but over the GVW a little bit. If I could get a 4500/5500 Crew Cab Longbed Pickup 4*4 with a higher GVW that I could still drive to work I'd do it. As long as its not $20k more then a 3500 of the same.

True... . not necessarily in ambulances but I'm starting to see a lot of the 4500/5500 trucks running around with construction company signage, utility company signage, service providers, etc...

Hopefully it wasn't a day late and a dollar short for Dodge on these trucks though.
