Does anyone elses six speed shifter nob with the shift pattern picture twist around on them (clockwise)? Mine does and it just keeps spinning in circles and after about the third time around with no end in sight i was wondering if there is a way to get it to stop besides changing the way I shift my truck because Ive tried that and I cant seem to do it. Thanks guys.

Try this

I took mine out and got a set of nail clippers and put little nicks on both sides of the outer ring that goes in the slot on the knob. Mine hasn't moved in 15K miles. Or you could just glue it.

Just pry out the center medallion, put a dab of glue of your choice (I used shoo goo cause it was handy) in the groove down inside the knob, maybe even in a couple places, then reinsert it. Putting the glue down inside rather than on the medallion reduces the chance of glue oozing out. . Mine hasn't moved at all any more, so I haven't changed the oil...

I used silicone... no problems since :D

But now I have to write my mileage down when I change oil with no rotation to remind me:rolleyes:

Just be carfull when removing the plastic shift-pattern cap; it can scratch

I watched mine spin for a few months and finally got around to it when I heard a rattle inside there; evidentely, the nut that keeps shift knob on came unscrewed (not sure if it rattled loose or was helped by me trying to recenter the shift-pattern by trying to turn the whole knob)

Anyway, this may have been a rare case but while you've got the plastic cap off, remove the shift-knob nut, add some locktite, and replace. I waited a week or so before replacing plastic cap to ensure the locktite dried. Definitely add a spot of glue to cap. The notching idea is a nice touch too.

Well that's just too funny... . I thought it was just me!

I've only got about 2800 miles on the truck and my pattern has rotated about 120 degrees... . I'm going to go ahead and change the oil anyway! ;)
