Well, I lost the synchros our of 3rd gear in my 5600 today. I lost 6th a few months ago also.

I know what caused the issue (a failing SBC DD Clutch both times). I have had SBC DD 3850 and 3600 fail (I was told improper machining of the Flywheel caused the rivets on the Front Disk to contact the Flywheel prematurely), replaced by Peter @ SBC).

The incomplete separation of the clutch caused excessive wear on the Synchronizers on on 3 and 6.

The question is, while I have the truck apart, how much work is it to replace these synchronizers?

The truck has around 150k.

I run Bully Dog 4s, a Hot Rod VP44, TST PM3, Smarty, HX40, I have a ported Head with 60 thousands O-Rings.

I run the truck around 9k (in weight) all the time, but I do not drive it hard. My driving does consist of 60mi of stop and go driving in Pittsburgh (constantly starting and stopping on a hill about every 50') every day (I am luck if I exceed 35mph on the drive to work)

Any Thoughts on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Rich

Oh yeah, I have been running Amsoil 5w30 Manual transmission Oil in the truck since new. I change the oil every 10k.

I also have FASS Coolers on the transmission to increase the amount of fluid in the case.
