Will a flywheel off of a 24valve 6speed bolt onto a 12 valve?

I'm going to get a 6 speed for my conversion and need to get a flywheel. Seems most people who upgrade to a 6speed use a special clutch or redrill their flywheel. I'm wondering if I could put a stock 6 speed flywheel on and not have to change the starter or adapter plate.

Thanks

Is a spacer relatively cheap? Is it a better route than redrilling the flywheel? Do you only need to change the pilot bushing for the older flywheels to accept the new shaft?

Thanks again.

Talk to Peter at south bend clutch. The pilot size are the same on the 5 and 6spd,s. the 6spd has a larger spline size. I just did this swap, I installed a bronze bushing for the pilot and installed a new clutch on my old flywheel. You will need to resurface the flywheel.

The main reason for using the 5sp redrilled flywheel is cost. Unless you can find a used one, the last I heard was about $900 for a new one plus the spacer and bolts for the starter.
