04.5-06 trailer brake box problems

I just bought a 5th wheel trialer and they gave me the hitch to go with it, but I need mounting plates. I cannot find the mounting plates for a Dodge 1996 3500 dually. I think the hitch is made by or like a reese hitch. I have not idea how to instll the mounting plates once I find them. Are they hard to install? do you have to weld/drill frame?

All I need is a mounting plate kit... . anyone have one or know where to get it??? The hitch came from Uhaul! Uhal has not Idea what I am taking about

thanks Jeff

If you can find a name or a number on ,then you can go online to buy just the brackets. Just type in hitches in your search. If you can't find a name or number, then go to the closest RV dealership to get the brackets. You might find them on Ebay.

any truck accessory place will have them. just ask for fifth wheel "rails". the kit is generally about $100 or so. i have bought a few sets myself. they arent too hard to install. everything is in the kit. you will need a good 1/2 inch drill and bit. your first set will take a few hours. i can do them in about and hour now. hope this helps.

Jeff,

If it a Reese compatible hitch you can get a rail kit from etrailer.com if you are inclined to shop over the 'net. Their kit #6005 is $100. They have a link to the installation instructions. There are specific measurements for each year and brand truck. You will need a good 17/32" drill bit to drill the frame holes for the splined shank bolts. I installed mine and it is not difficult. Watch out for the reinforcment rails under the bed because there is a wide tolerance on locaton. Drill pilot holes measure carefully and after 2 or 3 hours you will be done.
