5th Wheel hitch for 2013 2500

I bought a truck with no aftermarket support at all regarding 5th wheel options. Nobody makes a rail kit to mount my Reese to the frame. You guys have any ideas?

Is the 2013 frame different from the 2012? I have the Reese Elite and Reese has a great under bed mounting system that clamped on to the frame. It is clean and strong plus the bed is clear when hitch is removed.

The 2013 2500 frame is a carry-over from 2012. The 2013 3500 frame is new and has pockets welded to the frame rails for the Ram-produced inserts that come in the hitch prep package, a $400 option. I suspect the aftermarket will come up with a way to put a fifth wheel hitch on a 2013 3500 that does not have the factory package/inserts. B&W has already produced a ball mount kit for the gooseneck, for those with the 3500 frame but no prep package. Meanwhile, your 2500 should accept any hitch setup for the 2012.

Thx George... . but the 2013 frames are different than the 12's. I already have a Reese 20k but they don't make a kit as of late for the 2013' frames.

I posted this before I read Joseph Donnelly's post... ... You are saying a 2012' rail kit will fit my 13'????? I called tech support at Reese and they couldn't give me sound advice at all. Although it is very clear that the universal rail kit will NOT work with this frame..... cause it's boxed! Are the 12's boxed in also?

It's confusing, but from what we saw and were told in Columbus the 2013 2500 frame remains the same as the 2012 2500.

The 3500 trucks have the new frame for 2013, the 2500 trucks will get the new frame in 2014.



So a kit for a 2012 2500 RAM should work just fine on a 2013 2500 RAM. AFAIK.

This 2013 launch has confused many people and it being so late has not given much time for the aftermarket to figure out what's what.

Ok Thx Mike! That is exactly what I was looking at. I looked at the installation video and it appears to be almost identical to what I have. Thx to all of you who took the time to help out... . I really do appreciate it. BTW..... I will post pics of my new ride tomorrow! This truck is awesome..... a little down on power from what I'm used to but OMG... ... this thing is QUIET!!! Love it

I just went thru the same thing with my 2013 2500. I found a shop that does hitches, not like the U-haul places. (they depend on whatever the hitch companies make) They make custom hitches etc. Mounted mine up no questions asked. The plates came off my 2012 3500 dually. Been in biz for 30+ years. Find a locally owned place thats not a corporate type place.

As above, we were told the 2500 frame carried over from 2012. However we also were told about the 3500 frame having the front horns spread for the new cooling and intercooler arrangement. So, we don't really know all the details. It is probably safe to assume that a hitch that works on a boxed frame is OK on your 2500 as there was no reason to spread the rails at the rear. The big difference for 5th wheel guys is that only the 3500 in 2013 gets the frame pockets welded into the frame rails regardless of whether the hitch prep package is ordered. My understanding is that to get the pockets on a 2500 frame in 2013, you have to order the package.
