5th wheel hitch install

i'm thinking about renting a 5th wheel trailer this summer, but i have never used one. what is involved in installing the hitch? does it require drilling into the frame? #ad
i'm more than a little leary of drilling holes in my truck. are there any removeable ones? any recommendations for a first time buyer? thanks for the help. #ad

I have installed one and then the next one I had installed. . There is brackets that are bolted to the frame, if you are lucky there may be holes where you need the backets, if not the frame has to be drilled.
I have a RBW which is the removable one. If you can afford it, have an RV dealer where you live install it for you. It needs to be installed between 1-2" in front of the frame. By the time you buy or make the brackets, measure and measure and measure, and drill the holes in the frame and also in the bed of the truck, it can be a major pain!!!
Unless I have no other choice, I wont install another one. .

Like RHARVEY after installing my hitch the last time I hope that I won't ever do it again. I got prices around $200 to have it installed, that would have been very smart.

If I were just going to rent a trailer for a short period I think I would settle for a travel trailer and not worry about the 5th wheel hitch at all.
