I am trying to put my reese hitch in this weekend, but... . I lost my instructions on putting the rails in! Do any of you guys have your instructions, or some pics so I can see how the brackets are set up? Where do you mount the hitch in the bed, right above the axle?

Thanks for any help!

The Reese and Draw-Tite hitches use (as far as I can determine) the exact same mounting rails. I have uploaded the pages for mounting them in a Dodge 2nd gen truck on my website at http://www.klenger.net/misc/6005-6007-base-rail-mounting-kit.pdf.

When I mounted mine, I mounted the forward brackets to the frame before I drilled any holes in the bed. The forward ones seem to be the most critical as far as location goes. Once I had them mounted, I drilled up through the bracket and through the bed and completed the forward rail installation. Next I put the hitch on the forward rail and used it to position the aft rail. Once the aft rail was in position, I drilled down through the bed to locate the aft brackets. Worked really slick. The hitch pin is located about 2" forward of the rear axle (perfect).

Thanks for the feed back and pics guys, I managed to find the install instructions online and printed them. 2" forward of the axle seems to be what is normal. Planning on doing it Sunday, if all goes well:D . My new 5th wheel is waiting to be picked up, so I can't get impatient putting it in... ... no rushing... ... . nice thought! Oh yeah, putting my vp in on monday to:{

thanks again guys
