Pull Rite came through at last. They have come up with a no drill/no weld solution for '03 3500 4wd. They have finally developed the mounting brackets for their "Super Rails". The installation was easier than my previous hitch, and I didn't even have any instructions! There is NO drilling required, NOT EVEN the enlargement of existing holes. That is correct NO FRAME ALTERATION WHATSOEVER! It took some time, but I think these guys NAILED IT.
The front mount is bolted to one side of the frame by 2 bolts welded to a dogbone looking affair which is fished through the frame from the rear. There is another hole that you can't see untill the fender liner is removed. It is in overload stop bracket.
The rear bracket uses a 3/4" bolt, spacer, and backing plate through the frame, and a 1/2"x8" bolt that goes through the frame bottom to top. Both using existing holes.
As mentioned the fender liners MUST be removed, but nothing else. With the liners removed it becomes an easy job without a lift. Most of it can be performed from beside the truck on a creeper seat.
I waited for the development of the Super Rail brackets, because it provides a stronger mount, and the rails are completely removable by pulling 4 pins. Just as easy as removing the hitch itself. The same rails will accept either the 15. 5K or 20. 5K Super 5th hitches.
It is my understanding that these will be avalable almost immedeatly.
