5th wheel install on a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Sold my 2nd gen truck and kept my 16K Reese 5th wheel hitch but now need to install new rails into my 2004 Ram. I noticed there is a new below bed system by Reese for 5th wheels, anyone have an idea if I can use my 16K hitch with them? I really like the idea of no rails in the bed and thinking about selling my hitch and replace the entire assembly with a under bed rail system. Any suggestions? I use both goose and 5th wheel hitches.

Sell what you have, buy a B&W setup. With the hitch removed the bed is clear and if you ever need to haul a gooseneck trailer it is ready to do so. Once you have towed with a B&W hitch you will never want another brand.

I don't think your old hitch will work with the under bed rails as the mounting is different. I got the Elite 25K series hitch with the heavy under bed rails. I was very impressed with whole system. A goose ball set up is also available to use with the same rails. It is not a cheap set up but I definitely got what I paid for.

I'd get in touch with Reese and ask them... . or one of the tech guys at etrailer.com or another company like that who understand these kind of swaps... .
