My 5th wheel hitch in my 00 was dead center over the rear axle. Should I mount it the same in my 05 or stay a few inches to the front of the rear axle. Anyone hitch up their 05 yet that can give me some info . Thanks. .
I had always had mine mounted in front of the axle 4inches. However when the dealer had mine installed they put it centered over the axle, it doesn't seem to be a problem. Mine was also welded and I personally called DC and they said that it would not void my warranty.
Do you have a SWB or LWB. If it's a LWB, 2-4" forward of the axle works well, but with a SWB, you need all the clearance you can get, so over the axle is better.
When I weighed my truck at scales, without 5wh, the front weighed 4850Lbs. The front axle rating is 5200lbs. I have my 5wh hitch set up centered, in middle slot of mount. That way I can move it to coexist with the front axle rating.
