When the dealer told me he could not yet order a 2017 with a 5th wheel prep but Dodge told me otherwise I started looking around at options. Since I dont need the center hole and I already have a reese 5th wheel hitch I was wondering if I could just go aftermarket for an underbed setup for flush mounting 5th wheel and use my existing hitch. What are the alternatives to the OEM and are they better than going that way for those of you with the newer trucks wherein the OEM has those wide pucks.

They make a picture frame adapter that will fit the 4 pucks to mount your old hitch to. That's easiest. I wouldn't go without the 5th wheel prep group. Do a search, there are pictures of the picture frame setup.

You can install the pucks yourself if they fail to order them. The Demco 6099 PF cost a little more than the Reese one. I installed my pucks, bought the Demco 6099 and pinned a B&W RVK3270 to the picture frame. Your Reese will pin to the 6099 also. Demco can be unlatched from truck without removing the hitch. Get the prep or add the pucks later, sell your hitch and add this. You will thank me!
