Slide-in tie downs

Used hitch prices

Must be a northern thing... you can rent 5'ers all over the place down here (although the rental places down here offer delivery to your campsite). If i was renting trailers, i wouldn't stock any 5'ers due to the hitch... not saying some people don't have 'em, but a bumper pull would probably be in service a lot more than a 5'er.

I'm interested in purchasing a 5er, but want to try out a few different makes and lengths first. Three different dealers that rent TT's and RV's told me they will not rent a 5th wheel because of insurance reasons.

I spoke to my insurance agent about coverage and he said no problem. Presented this info to dealer, but still no dice even on a used model.

Is renting a 5er a "No - No" or what? Why will dealers rent RV's and TT's, but not 5er's?
Dave

I think there is no big market for the rental of fifth wheels because of the specialized hitch required. Hitches for TT's are common on trucks (Like Dodge with the tow package) but no one would bother to install a fifth wheel hitch just to rent a trailer. It alters the truck and if you remove it, it leaves holes. Think about it.

Completely agree with Dieselnerd. I rented quite a few TT's getting into RVing. Finally bought new in 92. I was willing to put a 5er hitch in but same thing back then, no one was offering up rentable 5ers. Just no market in it. Of course, I tow a 5er now after 8 years of towing a TT. Now I almost like the drive as much as the camping! I mean it's real close!

This is my edit and experiment to see if I can post a link to a picture I have of my rig. The picture is stored on AOL and just might be viewable by cliking:here
