New axles for 5th wheel--anything else?

Dually snow chains.....singles or double sets?

I'm looking into a 5th wheel in Washington state, need to get it to New Mexico. I was just up in Bellingham WA last month working on a house and now have no time to make another run up there. If I can get it to the Salt Lake area, I can make a run for it over the weekend.

Anyone hired one of the rv transporters? Do they charge a per/mile rate or flat fee? It's about a 1400 mile run to NM, around 900 to Salt Lake.

There are two or three TDR members who frequent this site who make their livings as transporters. One of them will probably respond to your question.

If someone doesn't, Horizon Transport, a TDR advertiser, can probably assist you. They have a very informative website and a toll free number. Horizon would probably take the job and offer it to one of their contractors, like a fellow TDR member, as a backhaul after he delivered a new unit to the Pacific NW. On Horizon's website I think I read that they charge about $1. 25/loaded mile and pay their drivers approximately $1/loaded mile.

Thats what I do for a living. Most the companies like Horizon are not really into the one loads for private parties. One you may try is http://radtransport.com/. If you find a private guy you may get it done for $1. 20, but through a company I will bet a bit higher. If your buying it from a dealer you may want to ask them. Alot of dealers have retired guys that hike trailers around and may do it at a fair price.
